It is no secret to anyone who knows me that I love a flea market or a swap meet. Not really cuz I like to shop them, I just like the "vibe".

Somehow I have ended up with a really lovely market. Really, 2nd Saturdayz for it's size and the fact that we have it once a month is extraordinary. I would be proud to have a show once a year as lovely as 2sat is most months. But the vendors bring it every month. I am always amazed and proud to be part of such a great and talented bunch.

But, and here it comes, what I also really love is a market like we bumped into in Elma this Saturday, after the Grays Harbor Swap Meet (which I love). It was in an old grange, love an old grange hall, and it had a rusty tin roof. The ramp going up to the door was so steep that if it was ment to be used by someone in a wheel chair lets hope that they were an olympic athlete. I was in love before I opened the doors to see it was painted entirely in PINK! The pink Linda Marcov and I call old lady pink, soft and glowing. Not only the walls, but the tables and all the benches, old lady pink. I was swooning. Geff and I were the youngest folks in there, except for the 12 year old girl selling friendship bracelets. There were tables filled with the most undesirable crap I have ever seen. Yet I was enchanted. When I bought candles made by the honey man.......he only had 6 and he really seemed not to want to sell them, each one he carefully wrapped in a paper towel and closed with tape, in the middle of the candle wrapping he ran out of tape. It was all stop, everyone went looking for tape. You gotta love that. Crocheted beer hats, yes they were there. Crocheted everything. In the most ghastly variegated acrylic yarn imaginable. I was loving them.

And this is why. I love what we do, all of us that sell. When Linda was speaking at 2sat a couple of months ago she called what we did a noble profession. And it is.

I love that those folks gathered items all month and crocheted and cleaned and lugged, boxed, and priced. Just like we do at 2nd Saturdayz. We have a different customer base, ours are hip, urban, sophisticated shop keepers and the very discriminating. But it is the same, the same care and hope that we will come away better off at the end of the day.

So I hope you will come to our little market this Saturday, January 14th. I can promise that over Debs dead body there will be no variegated acrylic anything, but there will be heart, just like in Elma last Saturday. Hope to see you there. OX L

I wanted to make sure that you know that 2nd Saturdayz is this Saturday, November 12th in the workshop at Magnuson Park.  Please check our web site or blog for detailed directions.

This month we have some really great new vendors joining us.  Barb, of Scout, will be back in the hanger.  We are so excited to have her, I love her style.  She is continually fresh and fun. And we just love to have her vibe in the building.  Dena, from Spokane is making the trek.  She is totally fabulicious.  Her stuff is so good.  Really, really great.  And she is fabulicious as well.  Both she and mr fabulicious will be here.  All I can say is bring the big truck. Really, the big truck.  We will be having the cupcake lady, and a vintage christmas duo.....and then YES        WillowNest. The one and only.  I hear angles sing when I see their offerings.  Linda and Ludmil have a style and presence that is uniquely their own.  It is really unheard of that they would do a show in Seattle, since they live in Burton Texas, but they will be here, and I am so grateful.  For all of us it will be a real treat to see them at work.  I am really amazed by all our vendors. Month after month they drag a room or 2 full of stuff, arrange it, price it, make it look interesting and can still crack a joke or two when folks walk thru the door Saturday Morning

I was just saying to Geff, that my favorite thing is to walk into the workshop with him and Virginia at 5:30am on Saturday morning and see it.  All ready and waiting, for you.  

What I want is for everyone to live a happy life.  I know that sounds sappy but really I do.  And I think that leading a life of beauty, filled with items that are unique and that are treasured and have been treasured is a step in a really happy life.  

I refer to our vendors as the Junk Tribe, and I know each of them works really hard to bring to you every month bits and tads of beauty and inspiration.  I hope you take the time to stop by on Saturday, the music will by on and we will be there 8-3, early buying starts at 8 and the entry is $10.00 after 10 it is $5.00.  And yes, the first 20 folks thru the door at 8 get one of Bob's treat bags, and this month I think that Deb has something "cooked" up for the first few folks in after 10 as well.

My friends Linda and Ludmil are coming to 2nd Saturdayz! We are so excited!

Linda and Ludmil will be vendors at 2nd Saturdayz in November, and Linda will be giving a talk about how to thrive and survive in the Vintage Business.

Linda and Ludmil, known as willownest , are legendary, that is what Serena of the Farm Chicks called them. And they are. Folks are coming out of the wood work to tell me how Willownest inspired them, Trisha Brink of Grandiflora in Lynden WA said, "I "grew up" in my late teens/early 20's drooling over all the wonderful things Linda would dream up and Ludmill would craft. They were the ultimate couple to me....and after meeting them and spending a couple of hours with them at their home & shop....we were so inspired and invigorated that we came back to Grandiflora teaming with awesome ideas. I am so thankful for all their years of hard work and wonderful inspiration...it has helped me to be who I am today....and what Grandiflora has become. They were so genuine & helpful....not what you'd expect from "famous" folks. I'm so glad I had a chance to meet them in person. :)" When I chatted with Judy Watkins of Remnants of the Past, she mentioned that Linda had been a mentor to her as well. When Linda and Ludmil moved from southen Washington to Texas they gave the Barn House Boys their start. Willownest has graced the pages of County Living, Romantic Homes and we all recall Linda as the Queen of Glitter when they had their sweet little store in Buxton.

Linda and Ludmil are never content to be big fish in a small pond so they moved to Texas and now show with the creme de la creme at Marburger during Round Top and this past summer was spent in the south of France shopping and hob nobbing with the lovely Corey Amaro famous blogger of Tongue in Cheek.

Linda inspires me almost daily, she is funny, smart and knows how to spin magic. I love her and she will be at the Workshop where we have 2nd Satudayz on Friday, November 11th at 10 O'clock to talk about how they have created a beautiful lifestyle doing what they love. Signs

So I'm wondering, we always have a big discussion about signage here at 2sat.

Most of the vendors like us to put up signs , we usually put the signs up on friday. But I contend, and the "experts" that I met with agree, that signs are useless. And esp. if you are having a event in the middle of a huge city in the middle of a well known park. I think signage inside the park to be the most valuable.

So the question is, do you need signs to find 2nd Saturdayz? If you see a sign along side of the road that has an event on it will you just follow the sign and go to the event? I think that the social media is the new signage. But wondering what you all think?

I love this shot of 2nd Saturdayz, it was taken a few months ago during set up. Deb and I had gotten a little whacky with the chalk. That is probably the Divine Ms Virginias product awaiting the proper staging.

So we have a full house for August 13th and I am just biting at the bit to get to the hanger and see some great junk and have a visit with the tribe. Hope to see you there.

The winners of the 2nd Sat fabulous Friday set up day are Fish Tail Cottage, and the lovely and so talented Lisa Johnson from A Thing for Roses, and one more cuz I screwed up the counting , Queen of the Tin Palace. Really I just wanted to have everyone but the vendors threatened a mutiny. So there you go. I will be contacting each of you with details. Oompa-Lompas may be sighted.

Fabulous Give Away...2 of You and a Friend get to Shop on set up day!!!

So this is the thing, we are going to offer early buying to 2 parties of 2. For our May show. So that would be for Friday May 13th in Snohomish for our 1 year anniversary.

You and a friend will be able to come into the secret realm of 2sat set up Friday and shop to your hearts content. First choice at anything that you see being brought in. You can come as early as noon and stay the whole afternoon, evening or come and go or what ever suits you little junk loving heart. We will offer libation and poo poos and some itsy bitsy gifts and trinkets.

I can tell you, there is no show that is not at it's most fun the day of set up. I totally love set up days.

Just tell us a favorite junking story, or about a best find or about a junk store that you love. And we will number the comments as they come in and pick 2 outa a hat. We will combine the comments we get here with any that we get on Facebook, let the wild rumpus begin!

Road Trip!!!!!!!!!!!!

So in May we are doing a show on the road. If you are interested in being in the show as a vendor please let us know. It is a big space and we would love to fill it up, but only if we can find a really good mix of vendors. So if you have never done a show, we would love to see what you want to do. Send pix to let us get a sense of your style and product.

We are calling this The Road Show, and most, if not all of our regular vendors will be there. Along with some folks who have spent sometime on "Debs list". And we have room for more.

But first, is our April show. Which is so packed full of great vendors that Rachel, the nice lady who takes the money in the morning, may have to be suspended by a sling over the door. I love the workshop so much but we really are looking for a larger spot in Seattle. If anyone has any ideas please let us know. I would just stay in our little room forever with the 30 vendors we can squeeze in there but because of the increased popularity of the show we need more parking and just more space for customers to move about. Not a bad problem to have, but something that will need to be thought about in the next year.

We are celebrating one year of 2nd Saturdayz in May. It is a dream come true for me, Lulu, and I think Deb is having some fun to. I can not tell you how fun it is to hang out with this group of creative, interesting, gypsies. They make me laugh. Deb is the best, she keeps me sane and grounded. And Geff and Drew make is physically possible for us to do the show. I can not even begin to imagine doing the show without them. They do so much of the behind the scenes. And my friend Virginia, love Virginia. In a lot of ways Virginia is what 2nd Saturdayz is all about to me. I love that she wants to be apart of it. And God help the person who messes up her coffee table or bathrooms. Believe me, the toilet paper
situation has been gone over throughly at coffee many a morning. She also makes sure the bills get paid and we have the permits and licenses to do the show. The Junk Tribe is my dream come true. I feel like I have found my people. Thank-you.

Snohomish!!! The place where I (deb) live! In this amazing totally refurbished 60's car dealership bldg! We will be the first to use this great space. And we'd love for you to be a part! Yep, it's true. On May 14th, 2nd Saturdayz Urban Market will be celebrating it's ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY here! (we have known the workshop at Magnusen Park wasn't available) We wanted a space big enough, sooo here it is! We are so excited, and have been waiting for those three words. IT'S A GO! And it's right on 2nd Street, just ONE block up from some of your other favorite haunts, like, Annie's on First, R&R, Faded Elegance, Joyworks, lot's of Junking! You can come and spend the day! So, we'll see you all at April 9th's Market at our still "favorite" original nest, at the workshop at Magnusen Park! We'll have all the scoop about May, and we have seriously PACKED the house! All about Easter, and Spring, and 20 Easter Baskets FULL, for our first 20 early buyers. Bob is hard at work ;) So see? We really are...

And the surprise bags for the first 30 guests. Those blooms! Again...Bob lovingly made each one. They were quite a hit!

For a Junk Tribe Feast! Our vendors are so amazing. Geff, cook extraordinaire (and all around rennasaince man;) fixed us the most incredible ham and scalloped potatoes meal. The food, the conversation, this was one of the best parts of the show!

I think Linda's smile says it all. She is always so happy to be with her "Junk Tribe" and to have a party. We celebrated her and Virginia's and John's December Birthdays too!

2nd Saturdayz November was Astounding!

So many thanks to our fabulously talented Junk Tribe, who made this past weekend's show one to be remembered! There will be pictures to share, so check in with us often ;) It all just makes us more excited for the December Market! We sold out of our Autumn Jeanne d' Arc Magazines, and nearly sold out of our Winter edition...but have no fear, a new shipment is on the way! The "too good to be true" cookies and home-made marshmallows flew out as well, but we'll have an amazing selection for you at the next show. We promise!

No 2nd Saturdayz in October
When we went to book the hangers last Spring October was already taken. This up coming year we have a lock on all the 2nd Satudayz except for May, Pratt bought the entire complex.

But we will not be idle my little shopping Monkeys, the first weekend of October Janet and I will be over in Spokane with 2 of my favorite women, Gladys & Cecelia for Mad Hatter Vintage Flea Market this is the real deal. True Junkers creating a beautiful space for other true Junkers to show their wares. It is a one of a kind show in my opinion and it is a honor for me to be a part of it.

The Second Weekend is the Show that really started it all for me, Sandpoint Antique and Design Market.
I always say that if Dennis had had a show every month I would of never felt the need to start 2nd Saturdayz. I love the mix of vendors at this show, there are always a few surprises and I love that old time Junkers feel. Casual & easy with a bit of spice.

The
15th and 16th you will find all of 2nd Saturday, Janet, Debie and I, at the Junk Salvation Vintage Flea Market.

And I might be able to talk the Girlies of the Junk Tribe to do a Fremont one of the Sundays we have off. So some great shopping will be had, but I have to admit I will be glad when November is closer so I can start telling about all the really fun ideas we have for our Holiday Shows, November 13 and December 11th. In the big hanger.

What are we thinking? Today Deb, Janet and I rented Hanger 30, the big hanger that we are doing our November show in, for December as well. Deb has a too good to be true vision of what we can do in there. She is working on it. Details will follow. But if you are interested in being a vendor at the Nov or Dec show please let us know. We were so pleased when so many folks had such nice things to say about the show, and that they had heard so many great things about it. Bobs Swap

Our dear friend Bob Saupan, of Johnbob, cool junk, recently discovered the world of crafting. Now Bob has always been a crafter, I just don't think he understood the huge community of other crafters and the lengths that they go to share their ideas and creations with each other. But Bob saw in a magazine about a ATC swap and was swept away with the idea. So here is the deal that Bob has going on for 2nd Satudayz folks.

At the last 2nd Satudayz he handed out bags with a bookcover, you can use any old book board cover, but his was about the size of a readers digest condensed book, book cover. about 5.5 inches x 8 inches. and then just decorate, paint,sew,distress, stamp,draw, glue what ever to it. We ask that you include some kind of homage to 2nd Satudayz by way of a 2, a pig or Satudayz on your cover. The one above is what Bob came up with. How cute is that? Anyway bring them to the next 2nd Saturdayz on Sept 11th and we will arrange the swap, you will leave with some elses piece of fab 2nd Sat art! Let us know if you have any questions. Just a bit more enticement for you head to 2nd Saturdayz July 10th. Some of our regular vendors will be out of the building this Saturday, doing out of town shows, medical procedures, etc. But we have some new vendors setting up and our lovely wonderful regulars. Garden Party, Deb who had a wedding to flower up last month. Windy and Gary Rushing will be back, they are funsters and bring great stuff. Virginia, I love Virginia. Last time she had these to die for french chairs, a pair no less. She is always a surprise. Speaking of surprise Patty Thompson will be back, love her and her look. Of course the John Bob cool junk will be there, decorating everything in sight. I hear Bob has been a shopping fool as of late so I am so excited to see what they will have in the truck. Jill Holmgren, last time she had a screen door that made my heart skip a beat. Bev, who always has posies and tre cute display, Julia, beautiful fancy antique lady clothing and accouterments. Linda Olsen, artist and the soul of any good flea market. Along with Jerry and Dedra, they are truly some of the reasons why I love this business so much. Vintage in it's finest state. Nia is new this time, we are so happy to have her. Nia had a booth at funky junk sisters and at farm chicks both times everything was perfect and fabulous beyond beyond. We are so excited to have her join up. Everyone loves Sheryl, she makes and finds great stuff. Cannot wait to see what she has this time. I know that I have left some folks out, I am just doing this without a list of any kind, God forbid that I should have a list. I am sure Janet will look this over and call to remind me of who I forgot.

Junk Tribe Reunion

July's market theme is "a family picnic".

I love picnics so much that I have been known to crash family reunion picnics at public parks. They always seem so nice when you don't have to be really related to any of those people. That is why a 2nd Satudayz picnic seems to be a fun theme, and you get to add the bonus of great shopping! Better than any family reunion that I ever crashed.

We have some fun give aways for the early crowd and Bob is on decorating duty so you know it will be over the top.

Coffee, Craven Farm tailgate sale, Petite Retreat .

If the weather is decent Janet and I along with lots of great junk dealers will be selling our wares at the always charming Craven Farm Tail Gate sale. This is the real deal, pre 60s junk in a field, heaven on a Saturday and then go to Petiet Retreat to visit with Deb and Bob. They always are at the top of their game. No detail goes unnoticed an imperfection is not found. They are hard workers and do lovely design. You will find useful items that you can use and will treasure for your home.

Go, shop, buy, my happy treasure hunting monkeys.

Now that is a Saturday plan.

I am so proud

I was not at my best this Saturday, I am still sorta exhausted from doing Farm Chicks, we call it the Farm Chick hang over. (I just awoke from a 4 hour sunday afternoon nap). I really worked all week to make this 2nd Saturdayz look and feel as good as the first one, only better, but I struggled a bit. The day before instead of having the entire Friday to set up the UofW Architecture Grads were having a party in the space, so we could not get in until 9 pm friday nite, and then we opened the doors at 5am the next morning. Janet said that there were vendors there until 2am setting up and Janet slept in the cap of her truck. God bless her, she was up at 5. right after I arrived.

Geff had new direction signs made, and I was really pleased with how they turned out. We still need advice on where to place them the day of the sale. I did not hear that there was as much trouble finding us. But next month I need to get up to Mag park and place a sign 2 weeks before the sale reminding folks. I did not do it this time. And the traffic because it was the day of the main UofW graduation was beyond anything I could have imagined. I am really amazed anyone was at our sale in the afternoon. Even with all that, all the vendors were lovely, good spirited and their booths looked great. It really felt so happy and wonderful. I am not a crier. But when I looked around right before the doors opened Saturday morning I almost broke into tears. I say it all the time, being with my tribe makes me happy. Saturday made me happy. Thank-you vendors of 2nd Saturdayz. You guys really are the best of the best. Next month is just around the corner and Janet and I are already working to making it amazing.

This is the funnest thing I have found in a long time.

A purple velvet clock, with mirrors.

Perfect fit for 2nd Saturdayz. Which is full to the brim with vendors this time and they all have got great finds to haul in.

The fun starts at 8am for early buying and we will be in full sell mode until 3pm.

If you were over at farm chicks I know that you could use one more day of really interesting shopping and if you could not be there come and get the junk fever.

We will be ready and waiting. Mag park, sandpoint way, we got us made some dandy new signs and they will be pointing you in our direction.

Man oh man did we have a day, if you came by the show thank-you so much, and you know how lovely it was, thank-you johnbobcool junk, and you know how much fun we were all having, and yes we have tons of pics but I am like the shoe makers kids, even tho my husband is a professional photographer somehow I have yet to see any pictures that he took. But promises have been made so they are coming.

I just wanted to mention how proud I am of the vendors, and how happy I am to be able to get to do it all again June 12th. I can hardly wait!

Saturday, May 8th is almost here, the day of our kick off Market.

Just wanted to make sure everyone knows the times 8am early buying, $5.00, 10am general buying $3.00.

We are filled with really great vendors and they are all so excited to show you what they have been working on the past few weeks for this market.

We all love to live in a vibrant interesting community, with a diversity of activities going on, but the only way to have that happen is to support it. I have heard for years how lots of folks want another opportunity to shop with local artists and sellers. To have their homes filled with one of a kind finds that they shopped for in a fun and creative environment. This is the week end to do that. Petite Retreat, The Barn House, and of course 2nd Saturdayz. Now go out there and hunt and gather my tribe!

here we are.

With the DAY soon approaching, May 8th and me, Lulu, going on vacation I wanted to get the new blog site up before I left.
John, Bob, Janet, Dawn and I are so excited to be able to create a monthly market that we would like to sell at. And excited to have some really great vendors along with us.
In the coming weeks we hope to be able to show you some of their wares and let you have a peek at what you can expect when you visit the show. If you know any of us you know that we are a group with varied tastes and talents but we all love junk, and we all are committed to putting together a market that will be fun and interesting. So with that being said. Watch this space for changes. And

We, the tribe and I, had a big ol' meeting at the Claim Jumper this afternoon. Do you know that restaurant has a piece of cake that is a foot tall? Serious cake. While I was eating cake and mashed potatoes , gravy there seemed to be some meat product in there along with some nasty vegetables..... there was lots of talking and planning, talk of presents and colored balloons. There was some stuff that I am supposed to "put in the vault" until the time is right. How long can they expect me to keep quiet about all this excitement? I was bribed with the cake. Now I feel kinda sick.

Our first 2nd Saturday Flea Market will be May 8th. It is in the work shop next to hanger 30 at Magnusen Park.

Opps, The April date was overbooked, we are so disappointed but went on to the next date in May, the 8th. For those of you who have already sent in their money I will be checking with you to make sure this is Ok with you before we cash your checks.

Also I am so excited that Janet Sears, from Blue Ewe is stepping in to handle all the banking and accounting. It is something that we have been struggling with and none of us wanted to really take it on. But long time primitive dealer Janet mentioned that it was something she might be interested in doing and I had her signed up before she could back out. I will be getting her contact information up soon.

If you are interested in doing the show I would recommend that you contact us. We have had some interest and it is a small venue. We are working on a first come first served basis, so those that get their contracts back and deposits in are the top priority.

Bob reminded me of how much we owe those of you who will be joining us this first show. We hope it will be a long and profitable adventure for all of us.

CALLING ALL BROCANTEURS

Bob Saupan, John Letson, JohnBob, cool junk, Janet Sears, Blue Ewe and I have firmed up our first date for a small brocante (Parisian style flea market). It is set for May 8th in what is known as the workshop in hanger 30 @ Magnuson Park in Seattle

What we wanted to get out to you is the date, and some basic info to help in your planning if you would like to join us.

It will be a one day show, show time will be 8am-4pm.

The booth space is limited, and I can tell you that Bob and John worked really hard to make sure we got as many folks in as possible and still be in compliance with the Fire Marshall.

We are asking for a deposit of 1/2, we will save that booth for you. 2 weeks prior to the sale the total amount is due.

John, Bob, Janet and I have been in the Junk game for along time, we have done hundreds of shows and flea markets, we are hoping to bring to vendors a easy profitable show in my favorite venue ever. This is the first time we have done an on going market. We want to be open and fair, and would love all feed back. What we hope to give customers is a delightful shopping experience that they can count on every month, on the Second Saturday.

John, Bob (JohnBob cool junk) and I (Linda/LULUZ) are getting together a small show at Sand Point in Magnuson Park, in the work shop at hanger 30.

We are hoping that we can have our first show in June if we can work the dates with Magnuson Park.

I know how fast all our calendars fill for summer shows and wanted to just put the idea out to hopefully get on your radar.

The number of booths is very limited, and will cost $10.00 a square foot. We hope that we can work with each vendor to create the right place and size of booth for what you are selling.

Please contact us if you are interested with a brief note about your product. We would love to include food vendors, a baker or hand made cheese.....perhaps you are someone who has not done a show or flea market before but would love to give it a try. We have all been there and would love for you to contact us.
